AI astro rig

My own control software and an MCP server that let AI agents drive a telescope mount and camera. Tell it "go to this star" and it does.

The hardware is off the shelf: a Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi mount running in equatorial mode and my Canon R5C with a 135mm lens. The interesting part is the software.

I wrote the control system for the mount and camera, and put a small MCP server in front of it. That means an AI agent can operate the whole rig. Tell it to go to a star and it slews there. Ask for a sequence of exposures and it captures them.

The big goal is a mosaic of the entire sky at 135mm. Each frame covers a patch about 15 by 10 degrees, so the whole sky takes around 200 overlapping frames, far too many to aim by hand in a night. That's exactly the kind of job I want the agents to handle.
